Alexis & Austin’s April Wedding at The Nest

Saturday, April 3rd, 2021 could not have been a more perfect day here at The Nest for Alexis & Austin! After being together for years, they decided to say “I do!” in front of all their family and friends in a beautiful outdoor ceremony near our pond. Their wedding day was full of joy, elegance, and with the help of Gathered Events designing and coordinating the day, beauty! Florals, designed by Wedfully Yours brought Alexis vision to life with beautiful shades of pink, cream, and mauve. N | How did you meet?

A | Austin & I met at the University of Texas! UT has spirit groups which are kind of like a sorority/fraternity but they can be co-ed groups. We were both in the same pledge class and were friends for about a year and a half. I thought he was cute and so one night I decided to go for it and we just clicked on an even deeper level. It was something we both never expected to happen and it just worked out seamlessly and there was never a moment of doubt!

N | How did you know he/ she was the one?

A | When we first started dating I really didn’t want a relationship, I kept pushing him away in some aspects and he just kept sticking around lol! Looking back I think that I knew that he was the one the whole time and me being a 19 year old girl was like I’m not ready for that yet but at the same time I didn’t want it to stop so here we are! When we were dating everything happened so quickly and at one point I remember just looking at him and knowing that there’s no way this man isn’t going to be in my life forever. On vacation together a couple months later, we stayed up all night just talking and I had sent a message to my best friend saying “I’m going to marry this guy” and 6 years later, it happened!

N | When dreaming about your wedding, what did you want it to feel like?

A | I wanted it to feel like a big reunion and a big party! Because we went to college together and were together for so long before we got married, we have a lot of friends that have become friends with each other and most everyone knew each other. I wanted our wedding to feel like a true celebration of Austin and I and who we are as a couple. We love being surrounded by our friends and family and just having a good time with each other and that’s exactly how it felt. Best day ever!!!

N | Do you have any advice for couples planning their wedding at The Nest?

A | My advice would just be to stop and take in all the beauty during your wedding at The Nest. It is such a simple and elegant venue with so many beautiful details! There was a moment when everyone was eating and my husband and I were looking out from our sweetheart table and we just took a moment to appreciate all the wonderful things and people around us. It really is the most perfect wedding venue and I couldn’t have imagined it any different!

N | What is your favorite memory of your wedding?

A | My favorite memory of our wedding was the last song of the night with everyone on the dance floor. I remember that I wanted to dance with every single person so we jumped around the dance floor making sure to dance with everyone for a least a couple of seconds before our sendoff. Singing Mr. Brightside at the top of our lungs and dancing with all of our favorite people who came to celebrate us is a moment I will never forget!
